CHOREOMOUSAI

Drawing on the writings of Mario Perniola and Robert Graves, an archaeology of the three primordial Muses is excavated. Described by Graves as manifestations of the Great Goddess in her poetic and enchanting aspect: Mneme is memory; Melete, contemplative practice; Aoide, the voice.

In the archaeological field, we searched for remains among the states of the body (maniai) and the forms of the body (symbols and archival records). The shawl, as an object of the archaic feminine and its overwhelming multiplicity, became the ritualistic element of this research: enveloping, concealing, revealing and metamorphosing, the shawl traces possible embodied pathways towards the rebirth of the Great Memory.
